You know how both Hillary and Al Gore won the popular vote but lost the presidency because they lost the electoral college?
My question was “What’s the lowest proportion of the popular vote that you’d need in order to win at the electoral college?” It turns out, the answer is 22%:
Isn’t that crazy?
I thought it was crazy.
Although I full acknowledge that you only really care about this if you’re on the losing side of this equation. But it has happened twice in the last five election cycles – and as the urban-rural divide grows, my guess is that this will start to repeat on the world more regularly.
