It always comes down to political expediency. (All) Politicians (everywhere) are in the business of ensuring their ongoing employment and not in serving the people who elected them. Why? Because politicians know that the electorate are driven by emotion rather than objectivity and can that milk this human reality to meet the politician’s personal needs.
