I have sometimes heard Blockchain technology described as a solution in search of a problem. Sadly, I am not tech-cool enough to know whether that’s a valid observation – but it does seem that the internet age requires something to ‘keep track’ of who owns what. After all, we can trade at nearly the speed of light (that’s not an exaggeration). There’s simple not enough time to keep tripping backwards and forwards from Deeds Offices, etc.

This infographic from Visual Capitalist shows how blockchain could replace the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (the DTCC). It might sound like a bit of a non-event, but it’s bigger than you might think:
