The Chinese yuan, or renminbi, is one of the last few controlled ‘big’ currencies. Did anyone read that post about the South Africa rand batting above its league? It showed a really bizarre anomaly:
- China is one of the world’s largest economies;
- It is also (unsurprisingly) one of the world’s largest traders;
- But its currency is (relatively speaking) rarely traded.

There’s a little too much dragon-metaphor going on there for my taste. But the graphs are awesome.
